Ä°n a written statement, State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said the new aid is to "help meet the acute needs of people inside Syria and refugees across the region who are affected by the violence in Syria."
The new funding includes the 10 million dollars announced last week in Turkey by a visiting U.S. delegation, she said, adding that the total U.S. aid to Syria has reached around 365 million dollars to date.
Last week, senior U.S. officials, including U.S. Ambassador to Syria Robert Ford, visited camps for displaced Syrians in Turkey and held talks with Turkish officials.
During the visit, the delegation announced that Washington would give 10 million dollars of aid to help supply daily food to the some 210,000 people in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo.
