It is claimed that since the day the United States began its military operation against Iran, it has been using critical ammunition stockpiles accumulated over the years, sources told the Financial Times (FT), APA reports.
According to the publication, the rapid depletion of the U.S. arsenal also includes reserves of “Tomahawk” cruise missiles.
It is reported that the Navy will feel the consequences of this for several years.
It is noted that the increase in military spending will put additional pressure on the U.S. administration, as the military operation against Iran together with Israel has caused difficulties for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz and led to oil prices rising above $100 per barrel.
FT writes that the Pentagon is expected to send an official request to the White House and the U.S. Congress in the coming days for the allocation of up to $50 billion in additional funding for defense needs.
