A panel of judges at the United States 9th Circuit Court of Appeals voted to temporarily allow the Biden administration to keep the policy that allowed federal health authorities to turn away asylum-seekers at the US-Mexico border if they crossed the border illegally, APA reports citing CNN.
The decision puts a pause on a lower court's ruling that was scheduled to block the asylum restrictions in the coming week.
While the district court judge had initially blocked the policy and allowed for a possible appeal within 14 days, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals committed to speeding up its review of the case.
