United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Thursday expressed Washington's willingness to welcome Chinese officials in the country as a step towards strengthening the ties with Beijing, APA reports citing Teletrader.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the United Nations Security Council meeting, Blinken confirmed that an official invite has been offered to the newly designated Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, but added that there is no response from Beijing concerning the matter. This invitation follows conversations about the potential visit of the previous foreign minister, Qin Gang, this fall.
Blinken emphasized the importance of continuing "important conversations" between the two countries following Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry's visit to China.
