Clinton meets Chilean foreign minister on bilateral ties

Baku-APA. U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton on Wednesday met with the visiting Chilean Foreign Minister Alfredo Moreno, pledging to work with Chile to deepen bilateral ties, said the State Department, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

In the joint press conference before the meeting, Clinton said it is always important for the two countries to meet because they "have so much in common" and "so much work we are doing together," according to a State Department statement.

Clinton also noted the "increasing leadership role" that Chile is playing both regionally and globally.

Moreno, for his part, said it is a great opportunity to talk about "all the things" that the U.S. and Chile have in common, according to the statement.

He said the meeting will also follow on the visit by U.S. President Barack Obama to Chile in March, "which was very important not only for Chile, but also for the region."
