Mexican police search for missing pollsters

Baku-APA. Mexican investigators are searching for six employees of a polling firm who disappeared in the violence-plagued western state of Michoacan, APA reports quoting news.yahoo.com website.

A state prosecutors’ spokesman says a kidnapping investigation has been opened in the case of the Consulta Mitofsky employees, who disappeared Saturday.

The spokesman said Monday that they are searching the area near the city of Apatzingan, a stronghold of the La Familia and Knights Templar drug cartels. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to be quoted by name.

Mitofsky president Roy Campos said he holds out hope that the six are well and will be found.

The employees were gathering polling data ahead of the state’s Nov. 13 gubernatorial elections.
