Baku-APA. Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez on Tuesday called for a peaceful political solution to the conflict in Libya, while once again denouncing the ongoing NATO-led air strikes on the violence-torn North African country, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

"We do not agree with everything (Muammar) Gaddafi is doing, but we are not going to support the bombing of hospitals, universities and public places," Chavez said.

Chavez questioned the military actions of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and said a delegation sent by Gaddafi is currently in Venezuela "looking for a peaceful way out of the crisis."

The end to any conflict should not be sought "at the threat of a bayonet but through political means," local media quoted Chavez as saying.

Chavez said measures should be taken to "reject the bombing and interference in Libya."
