Baku-APA. At least eight people accused of drug trafficking related to Mexican drug cartels have been extradited from Colombia to the United States, the Colombian police said on Thursday, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

The police said in a statement that among those extradited was Jose Guillermo Gallon, who "is requested by the Court of the East District of Texas where he will have to respond to charges for involvement in the import of cocaine."

Gallon was arrested in 2010 and is allegedly one of the key links between Colombian drug dealers and Mexican drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman.

The police said that Luis Valencia and Ruben Davila also have been extradited, both of whom are believed to be part of the illegal armed organization the "Envigado Office," which was created by Colombia’s late notorious drug czar Pablo Escobar.

Ashly James and Waldier Forbes were also extradited on charges of being "ringleaders of the drug trafficking in the San Andres and Providencia archipelago" and leading the maritime cocaine distribution to Central America and the United States, the police added.
