Obama to meet Qatari emir at White House

Baku-APA. U.S. President Barack Obama is expected to meet with Qatari Amir, Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, on Thursday afternoon, according to a White House statement, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Obama will hold a bilateral meeting with the amir in the Oval Office in the afternoon, said the statement.

Following the meeting, the two will deliver statements to the press in the Oval Office, the statement added.

The meeting and the statements are believed to be largely related to the ongoing situation in Libya. A conference of the Libya contact group, which is designed to seek a political exit to the crisis in Libya, just concluded on Wednesday in Qatar’s capital Doha.

Envoys from the United States, Britain, NATO, Arab countries and international organizations were present at the meeting.

Qatar and the United Arab Emirates are the only two Arab states that have committed to participating the NATO-led airstrikes on Libya.
