U.S., British, French leaders call on Libya to comply with UN resolution

Baku-APA. U.S. President Barack Obama on Thursday called British Prime Minister David Cameron and French President Nicolas Sarkozy and they agreed that Libya "must immediately comply with all terms of the resolution" adopted earlier by the UN Security Council, APA reports quoting Xinhua News Agency.

The White House said the leaders agreed that "Libya must immediately comply with all terms of the resolution and that violence against the civilian population of Libya must cease."

Resolution 1973 adopted on Thursday authorizes a no-fly zone over Libya and calls for "all necessary measures," excluding troops on the ground, to protect civilians under threat of attack in the North African country.

In their phone talks, leaders the United States, Britain and France agreed to "coordinate closely on next steps" and continue working with Arab and other international partners to ensure the enforcement of the resolutions on Libya, the White House said.
