Baku-APA. Anti-crime groups are urging a federal court to uphold the conviction of a French woman imprisoned in Mexico on kidnapping charges, APA reports quoting news.yahoo.com website.

The court is set to rule Thursday on the last available appeal available to Florence Cassez, who is serving a 60-year-sentence for helping in four 2005 kidnappings.

Two prominent anti-crime activists are urging the court to keep her in prison. Their own children were kidnapped and murdered in unrelated cases.

The French Embassy complains the groups are putting inappropriate pressure on the court.

Cassez has proclaimed her innocence and her lawyer says her case has been fraught with irregularities.

She has found little sympathy in Mexico, which has one of the world’s highest kidnapping rates.
