Baku-APA. UN Secretary-General Ban Ki- moon will depart next Tuesday on a three-country trip to Indonesia, Samoa and New Zealand for a series of conferences and bilateral meetings, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric announced here Thursday, APA reports quoting American media.
"His first stop will be Bali, Indonesia, where he will attend the Sixth Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC)," Dujarric said at a press briefing here. " He is also expected to meet with Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, as well as with other leaders attending the Forum."
On Aug. 29, the secretary-general will leave Bali for Apia, Samoa, for the Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States, the spokesman said. "He will address the opening plenary session of the Conference on Sept. 1."
While in Samoa, Ban will hold bilateral meetings with leaders attending the conference and meet with Samoan people driven from their homes by climate change, said the spokesman.
From Samoa, the UN chief will travel to New Zealand, where he will receive an Honorary Doctor of Laws Degree from the University of Auckland and give a lecture, the spokesman said. "The secretary-general is also expected to meet with Prime Minister John Key and other officials."
Ban will return to New York on Sept. 3.
