The regional police commander, Moses Ombati, said on Thursday the suspects Moses Kyala, Mohammed and Alex Sifuna are believed to have been used by a key suspect in the murder Jimenez on July 26.

"The three were arrested in Nairobi and we believe they might have been used by the key suspect in the case to murder the Venezuela envoy. We should be able to conclusively know whether they were used by Friday," Ombati told Xinhua by telephone.

Ombati said initial investigations have established that the three suspects are probably connected to the murder. "We will be able to know whether they will be charged in court on Friday," Ombati said.

A key suspect in police custody is Dwight Ashrubal Saragay, who has denied the charges in the High Court that on July 26 he murdered Jimenez, who was acting as Venezuelan ambassador to Kenya.

The prosecutors have charged Saragay along with Muhammed Ahmed, who is wanted by the Kenya police in connection with a case of murder involving the late Jimenez, who was until her tragic death, the charge d’affairs of the Venezuelan Embassy in Nairobi.

The police have called on members of the public to volunteer crucial information that may lead to the arrest of Mohamed, who is a medical doctor.

Saragay, arrested on July 28 after the authorities waived his diplomatic immunity, is also being treated as a key suspect in the murder of the 57-year-old Jimerez.

Two Kenyan private security guards to the residence of the slain diplomat at the time of her death have also been charged for failing to stop the envoy’s killing.

Sources at the Venezuelan Embassy said the late diplomat was found tied with wires around her feet and neck.
