Azerbaijan to reduce tariffs for international rail passenger traffic

Baku. Ramiz Mikayiloglu – APA. Azerbaijan will reduce tariffs for international rail passenger traffic 35%.

According to Nadir Azmammadov, spokesperson of Azerbaijan Railways OJSC, the tariffs have increased 35% since March 11.

He noted that the growth is associated with the changed rate of the national currencies of Russia, Georgia and Ukraine versus the Swiss franc: “The tariffs increased in accordance with the regulatory tariffs for international transportation, associated with the Swiss franc”.

Azerbaijan Railways CJSC appealed to Russian Railways OJSC and Georgian Railways JSC with a proposal to reduce tariffs for international passenger traffic. As a result of negotiations between Azerbaijani and Russian railways, the tariffs in Baku-Moscow-Baku and Baku-Kharkov-Baku trains will be reduced 35% from March 30, 2015.

At the same time, the tariffs in Baku-Tbilisi-Baku in the territory of Azerbaijan Railways have been reduced since March 15. According to negotiations between Azerbaijani and Georgian railways, the tariffs in Georgia’s territory will be reduced from April 5, 2015.
