Azerbaijan Customs officers detect 866 boxes of illegal hookah tobacco on Baghdad-Baku flight

As a result of comprehensive operational and control measures carried out by employees of the Main Customs Department for Air Transport, hookah tobacco products brought into the country in violation of customs regulations were detected, APA-Economics reports, citing the State Customs Committee.

According to the information, as part of customs control measures, it was established that passengers arriving on the Baghdad-Baku flight placed various packages in a passenger car parked on the airport premises and then left the area.

During a customs inspection of the vehicle, 866 boxes of hookah tobacco without the mandatory markings required by the Republic of Azerbaijan were found among packages that had been distributed to passengers at foreign airports and brought into the country under the guise of personal use.

An investigation into the case is underway.
