“Energy has been at the heart of our relationship with Azerbaijan for thirty years, since BP entered the market — we are proud of this legacy. We are working closely to support the energy transition so that the United Kingdom can invest in the clean energy sector and harness Azerbaijan’s renewable energy potential,” UK Ambassador to Azerbaijan Duncan Norman said at a press conference today, APA reports.

According to him, beyond energy, British companies are also active in a number of other sectors: “We see Azerbaijan as a natural hub in this region for transport, infrastructure, finance and data.”

Duncan Norman said that education is one of the strongest pillars of the relationship: “This year, the United Kingdom continued to be the most preferred country for Azerbaijani young people studying abroad under the state program: 61% of students chose to study at British universities, benefiting from our world-class education.

The UK government-funded Chevening Programme further strengthens these ties, and applications for the Programme are currently open. We encourage talented Azerbaijani citizens with ambitions to bring about positive change to apply. We look forward to further developing this cooperation by fostering new education and science partnerships, investing in artificial intelligence and digital transformation, as well as creating skills and jobs for the future in both countries. Equality and inclusion are vital for sustainable growth, which is why we continue to support the economic empowerment of women together with the government and local partners.”
