Pakistan’s army chief Field Marshal Asim Munir met Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Monday as part of Islamabad’s efforts to restore regional peace and security, APA's Tehran bureau reports.
During the meeting, Ghalibaf, who also heads Iran’s negotiating team, accused Washington of repeatedly violating the Islamabad memorandum of understanding.
“The commitments of both sides under the memorandum are clear, and it was the United States that prevented stability in the region by failing to honor its commitments, providing another reason to distrust it,” Ghalibaf said.
He said Iran would continue pursuing the implementation of the memorandum’s terms and would not yield to pressure.
“It is the United States that must abide by its commitments under the agreement,” he added.
