Turkish MP: Rights of Azerbaijanis displaced from their native lands should be restored

"We are discussing a topic that has been the victim of neglect for many years," Zafer Sırakaya, Member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and Deputy Chairman of the Justice and Development Party said during a panel at the Second International Conference on “The Right to Return: Advancing Justice for Azerbaijanis Expelled from Armenia”, APA reports.

He spoke about the significant consequences arising from the 30 years of occupation of Karabakh: "Another victim of the aggression is Azerbaijan's rich cultural heritage. International organizations remain indifferent to this issue. But sooner or later, justice will be restored. We stand by Azerbaijan in this matter."

While sharing his thoughts on the necessity of the right of return to Western Azerbaijan, Z. Sırakaya emphasized that the right of return is a fully accepted principle in international law: "The rights of Azerbaijanis displaced from their native lands should be restored. A detailed approach should be proposed with the participation of the relevant parties. We bear responsibility before future generations. This responsibility is based on establishing peace in the Caucasus."
