Zelenskyy says he feels 'betrayed' by Trump's actions

Zelenskyy says he feels
# 14 October 2026 21:25 (UTC +04:00)

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke with Piers Morgan in an interview, a snippet of which was released on Wednesday, confessing that he felt "betrayed" by United States President Donald Trump's recent dealings with Russia, APA reports.

Nonetheless, he stressed that it is "more complicated" than just his emotions and feelings. "It depends, not on me. Our country has to survive," Zelenskyy explained.

Commenting on the US-Russia energy deal, which came only 21 days after Trump signed the Lindsey O. Graham Sanctioning Russia and Iran Act of 2026 into law, the Ukrainian head of state said that "it is a pity" Kyiv was "losing a strong partner."

He underlined that "this is not the right side of history," adding that it is "painful" to see Washington not taking Ukraine's side.

Zelenskyy pointed out that it is okay to be in the middle, stressing, however, that in that case "you have to stay in the middle, not on the wrong side."
