Lusine Badalyan, an MP from the ruling Civil Contract party in the Armenian parliament, has been banned from entering Russia, News-Armenia said, APA reports.
The MP had planned to travel to Russia to participate in a meeting of the Permanent Commission on Social Policy and Human Rights of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in St. Petersburg.
According to the report, she was informed that a ban on her entry into Russian territory was in force, but the reason for the ban was not disclosed.
Badalyan called the incident strange and concerning, saying that it prevented her from carrying out her official duties at the headquarters of an international organization.
“I was not allowed to enter the Russian Federation. The reason given was that my entry into the country had been banned. The specific reason for this is unknown,” the MP wrote.
