"Thousands of Azerbaijanis have been expelled from the territory of Armenia throughout history," said Zafer Sarikaya, a member of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye and deputy chairman of the AK Party during his speech at the international conference on "Ensuring the safe and dignified return of Azerbaijanis displaced from Armenia: Global context and fair solution" held in Baku, APA reports.
"Armenians destroyed cultural monuments, cultural-historical heritage, places of worship. All this happened at such a level that we cannot talk about the existence of Azerbaijanis in modern Armenia," he added.
Zafer Sarikaya called on the international community to work together: "Azerbaijanis' return to their homeland must be ensured in a safe and dignified manner."
