"This event serves as a crucial platform to draw international attention to the forced expulsion of Azerbaijanis from Armenia, the damage inflicted on our historical and cultural heritage, and to advocate for our right of return, while fostering discussions on peace and reconciliation on a just basis," stated Aziz Alekberov, Chairman of the Board of the Western Azerbaijan Community and a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during the opening session of the 2nd International Conference on the Right of Return, organized by the Western Azerbaijan Community, APA reports.
He emphasized that Armenia has deliberately destroyed Azerbaijani cemeteries, cultural, and religious monuments, severely damaging both tangible and intangible cultural heritage: "Our traditions, social ties, and way of life have suffered significantly. Armenia refuses to allow a UNESCO mission to investigate the state of Azerbaijani cultural heritage within its territory. Armenia's policy of creating a monoethnic society contradicts the region's rich traditions of ethnic and religious diversity."
