"We believe that restoring justice and establishing sustainable peace in the region is only possible through recognizing and ensuring the right of return for Western Azerbaijanis," stated Aziz Alekberov, Chairman of the Board of the Western Azerbaijan Community and a member of the Parliament of the Republic of Azerbaijan, during the opening session of the 2nd International Conference on the Right of Return, APA reports.
"The support of the international community is indispensable in this process. Unfortunately, the Armenian government's unwillingness to engage in constructive dialogue complicates this matter. Nevertheless, we remain committed to pursuing our just cause based on the principles of peace and dialogue," he added.
Alekberov highlighted that the conference focuses on strengthening the legal foundations of the right of return in international law and emphasizing the role of justice in reconciliation and peacebuilding: "The event will also address critical issues such as ensuring security guarantees during the return process and restoring property rights. Additionally, discussions will center on securing international support for preserving and restoring our cultural heritage, promoting a universal approach to human rights, and eliminating double standards."
