Secretary-General of World Tourism Organization Taleb Rifai elected first honorable doctor of Azerbaijani Tourism Institute

APA reports that Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism Nazim Samadov, ATI’s rector, Doctor of Historical Sciences Jafar Jafarov and the members of the Institute’s Research Council participated in the meeting.

Rector Jafarov welcomed Taleb Rifai and spoke about the institute’s establishment and activity in staff training sphere. According to the rector, 300 students got education at the first year on three specialties in ATI, which was established in 2006. 1300 students are getting education now on 11 specialties in bachelor’s program, 41 students get education on 7 specialties in Master’s program. 186 professors are working at the university. Rector noted that ATI cooperated with University Krems of Austria and it is the first education establishment in Azerbaijan which certify double diploma. Jafarov underlined that by the decision of the Research Council, UNWTO Secretary-General Rifai was elected the first honorable doctor of the Azerbaijani Tourism University. Diploma and lapel badge were presented to Rifai on this occasion. Rifai said that he was pleased with sincere greeting and his election as the first honorary doctor of the university. According to the Secretary-General, the tourism sphere has its renaissance period now: “People, who will work in this sphere after 50 years, will say that these years were the period of renaissance”. Secretary-General said that he was honored with Azerbaijan’s election to UNWTO.
