She said three of this year’s maternal deaths have been thoroughly investigated.
“And the three other maternal deaths remain uninvestigated. We are waiting for the anatomic-pathological results. Some of them have not been under regular control. They have received unneeded treatment and then visited the doctor quite late. When the complications occur, it becomes virtually impossible to help,” said Rzaguliyeva.
She noted that the maternal fatalities are declining from year to year.
“It’s true that medical errors sometimes contribute to maternal deaths but the women themselves as well as their family members also to blame for. To three deaths, we have about 300 mothers who get over critical condition. There are ongoing efforts to create a commission to study critical conditions,” she added.
