On July 3, a delegation of Azerbaijan, led by Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Milli Majlis, arrived in Tehran, Iran, to attend the farewell ceremony for Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, APA reports.
At Tehran’s Mehrabad International Airport, the Azerbaijani delegation was welcomed by Ali Nikzad, Deputy Speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Assembly, Ali Alizada, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Iran, along with other officials.
Subsequently, the Azerbaijani officials proceeded to the Mosallah Complex in Tehran to attend the farewell ceremony.
During the ceremony, Speaker Sahiba Gafarova met with several Iranian officials, namely Masoud Pezeshkian, President of Iran; Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Speaker of the country’s Islamic Consultative Assembly; and others, extending condolences of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.
The Azerbaijani delegation included Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev; Deputy Speaker Ziyafat Asgarov; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Samir Sharifov; Prime Minister of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Jabbar Musayev and other officials.
