Republic Main State Traffic Police Office addresses drivers due to weather conditions

Chief of the public relations department Kamran Aliyev told APA that due to the snowy and frosty weather, some roads had been covered with ice, which caused serious problems for traffic.

According to him, Baku-Shamakhi road was covered with ice. The road till 83rd km of Baku-Guba highway is open: “After 83 km, the central road has frozen. There are some problems on Baku-Gazakh road. Traffic was restricted on Aghsu-Ismayilli highway. But this road is being cleared of snow and ice.”

Aliyev advised drivers not to use the abovementioned roads and to be careful and prefer seasonal tyres.

The department chief also said that 10 traffic accidents occurred yesterday. As a result 6 died, 11 were injured. The most terrible traffic accident happened in Aghstafa region. A car turned over electrical wiring for trains and rolled down the valley. Consequently, 4 people died from electric jolt at the site.

Snowy and frosty weather also caused problems on Baku roads. Baku State Traffic Police Office told APA that vehicles of the Transport Ministry’s “Azeryolsevis” OJSC are clearing the roads. Relevant measures are currently being taken.
