Poverty line among IDPs reduces from 75% to 15% in Azerbaijan

According to him, closing of 12 tent camps in the country completed in 2007: “77 of total 82 settlements and hosing estates constructed for refugees and IDPs were built during past 10 years. During these years, 120 schools, 6 music schools, 33 kindergartens, 37 medical institutions, 34 clubs and community centers, 28 communication houses were built in these residential complexes. Totally, 40,000 families and 166,000 got good housing conditions during these years.

Totally AZN 4 bln was spent for social protection of refugees and IDPs. Of this, 84% or AZN 3.7 bln was allocated during past 10 years. State Oil Fund of Azerbaijan allocated AZN 1.46 bln for construction of new settlements and housing estates. 220 hostels, where the IDPs settled, have been repaired through funds allocated from different financial sources and consequently, 68,000 IDPs benefited from it.

The funds allocated for monthly food expenses of IDP rose 3.6 times, funds for community facilities increased 4.5 times and annual budget of the State Committee for Deals of Refugees and IDPs surged 5.5 times. 161,000 of 380,000 able-bodies IDPs have permanent jobs, 200,000 were involved in seasonal works”.
