The Committee is visiting one Armenian captive and five-member family held in Azerbaijan,” Head of Azerbaijan Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross Denise Duran said at today’s press conference, APA reports.

She said that the ICRC Azerbaijan delegation visited the Armenian captive and family on January 22. Duran said that about 700 people were released within 21 years through the mediation of the ICRC: “This is a general statistics on the Azerbaijanis and Armenians. However we can’t announce an exact figure of prisoners of war and internees. The conflict was going on in the beginning of 1990 and there was no exact data about them. On the other hand, the ICRC doesn’t use the word hostage. We frequently hear about persons allegedly secretly held by the sides. These are claims and we can only follow them. However, we should be given specific information. We haven’t received specific information about it from the sides.”

Serviceman of Armenian armed units Akop Injugulyan was captivated by the Azerbaijani servicemen in August 2013.
