Denise Duran said at today’s press conference that reports are disseminated by media in this regard: “We know that these people can join these battles. One family appealed to us and said that they want establish contact with a family member in Syria. We tried to find out what we can do by contacting our representatives in Syria.”

She said the investigation revealed that the situation is very complicated in Syria and it is impossible to make contact with foreign nationals in the country. The area of Syria is large and there are many and various groups: “Our mission in Syria submitted to the government the list of 355 people allegedly detained by the Syrian authorities. All 355 are the citizens of Syria, they are not foreigners and there are no Azerbaijanis among them as far as we know. Unfortunately, we have very limited activity in Syria in clarifying the fate of foreigners. We are holding talks trying to ensure access to various parts of Syria. The President of ICRC has recently visited Syria and raised this issue at the highest level. Our aim is to deliver humanitarian aid to the people affected by battles, ensure the contacts of these people with their families. Unfortunately, our delegation in Syria can not offer this service with regard to the foreigners.”
