Azerbaijani Education Ministry warns universities over fake diplomas

Baku. Konul Kamilgizi – APA. “Prosecutor General’s Office is currently carrying out investigation on the fake diplomas revealed at Ganja branch of Azerbaijan Teachers Institute. Following the investigation, the Prosecutor General’s Office will give detailed information about it,” Deputy Minister of Education Jeyhun Bayramov told journalists, APA reports.

 

The deputy minister said that inspections are regularly being conducted in universities. He noted that if such a negative case is revealed in any university, tough measures will be taken: “At present, no inspection is carried out specifically. The situation in connection with diplomas is also being inspected while checking the level of education in universities.”

 

Clarifying the issue of transition to twelve-year education in Azerbaijan, Bayramov noted that this issue is reflected in the “State Strategy for Education Development in Azerbaijan”: “Twelve-year education is one of the goals of the strategy. At present, action plan is being developed for the strategy and then appropriate t state programs will be adopted. If the state program will be adopted in connection with the transition to twelve-year education, the details will be reported in this regard. It is too early to talk about from what class the transition to twelve-year education will begin.”
