“If the new EG.5 variant of COVID-19 spreads widely in the world, cases of infection will also occur in Azerbaijan,” said Hande Harmanci, Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Azerbaijan who is on a visit to Nakhchivan, APA’s Nakhchivan bureau reports.
The WHO official said that there's been a relative increase in the COVID-19 infected numbers for some time: “People should continue on protecting themselves without panicking. If the new EG.5 variant of COVID-19 spreads widely in the world, it will also come to Azerbaijan”.
H. Harmanci also noted that “the new EG.5 variant is highly contagious but it does not have any serious results as we know.”
