"We cannot prognosis the character of the wars and they can go on even further than we expected”, - Secretary General of NATO Jens Stoltenberg said in his speech at the NATO Public Forum in Vilnius, APA reports.
"The only thing we can do is stand with Ukraine as much as it needs and give our military support. We shouldn’t forget that this war started in 2014 and a full-scale invasion started in February of the previous year, said Secretary General.
Jens Stoltenberg also talked about Ukraine’s counterattack and emphasized that it was important. “Ukrainian forces take back the territories and suppress Russian invaders. However, the Ukrainian forces also face resistance and difficulties there”.
Secretary General of NATO stated at the Vilnius Summit that the Allies of the Alliance will express their solidarity regarding the continuation and strengthening of military assistance to Ukraine.
“I believe that the Allies will again declare that Ukraine will join the Alliance. Everybody understands that Putin’s victory in Ukraine is not dangerous for only Ukrainians, but also for us as well. This could be a message to the authoritarian regimes that they could achieve their goals by applying military force. This is also a threat to the international order. Supporting Ukraine is within our interest”.
