"Level changes of the Caspian Sea are the issue that worries us the most. The sharp drop in level is Caspianəs biggest problem. Other problems are directly in connection with this," Said Safarov, head of the department of the Geography Institute of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Doctor of Geography Sciences, told APA.
The geographer added that starting from 2005, even in the years when the water level was relatively high, the sea level began to decrease rapidly: "Comparative analysis shows that the sharp decrease in sea level in recent years is due to the sharp increase in evaporation."
