On September 27, martyrs were honored with a minute of silence at the Martyrs’ Alley in Khojaly, flowers were laid on their graves, and prayers were offered in memory of the heroic sons of the nation, APA reports.
According to the Public Relations Department of the Reconstruction, Construction, and Management Service in Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly, speakers at the commemoration highlighted the 2020 Patriotic War that began on September 27, and the historic victory achieved by the Azerbaijani Army.
It was noted that, following this victory, local anti-terror operations in 2023 fully restored Azerbaijan’s sovereignty. Extensive reconstruction and development work is currently underway in the liberated territories, with the phased return of former internally displaced persons to their native homes. Under the “Great Return” program, resettlement is taking place not only in Khojaly city but also in surrounding villages.
The commemoration was attended by staff from the Office of the President in Khankendi, Aghdara, and Khojaly, employees of the Reconstruction, Construction, and Management Service, Khojaly district police officers, families of martyrs, and war veterans.
