A public hearing on "secure and dignified return to Western Azerbaijan" was held in the Milli Majlis (Parliament), APA reports.
During the event, the Chairman of the Western Azerbaijan Community, Aziz Alakbarli, stated that as a result of the 44-day Patriotic War, not only was the Armenian occupation ended, but also conditions were created for our compatriots, who had been deported from the territory of Armenia in the past, to return to their ancestral lands.
Aziz Alakbarli noted that when President Ilham Aliyev visited the building of the West Azerbaijan Community, he stated that the return of our compatriots to their homeland should not be spontaneous, but rather carried out in a planned manner.
It was also mentioned during the event that while the UN Refugee Status Convention is one of the main documents referred to by Azerbaijan on this issue, the return of our compatriots deported from Western Azerbaijan to their homes is also a matter of national morality.
The event continued with speeches.
