"Termination of the criminal case against 3 football players of Armenian origin who insulted Azerbaijan's flag is an example of the humanitarian position of the Azerbaijani state," said Director of the Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Nemat Avazov during a live broadcast on the Prosecutor General’s Office Instagram account, APA reports.
He asserted that Azerbaijan does not discriminate between the peoples, and nations living in Azerbaijan and that everyone has equal rights.
“The fact that they had committed their first crime and their sincere regret was taken into account. They have spread the crimes they have committed on Internet resources. Those persons had posted prohibited information on the Internet. Just for this reason, they were administratively sentenced to 10 days of imprisonment,” Nemat Avazov said.
Note that the 10-day administrative arrest of 3 Armenian football players ended the previous day and they were handed over to the Armenian side.
