Proposal to adopt special law on Martyrs’ Alleys submitted to Azerbaijani Parliament

The Milli Majlis has proposed adopting a special law on "Martyrs' Alleys", APA reports.

Zahid Oruj, chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Milli Majlis, made the proposal during today’s parliamentary session.

The committee chairman noted that the Azerbaijani people view Martyrs’ Alleys not merely as cemeteries or mass burial sites, but as symbols of heroism and passports of national identity.

“Establishing the legal status of the avenues, the sites where National Heroes are buried, monuments and memorial complexes, and other locations carrying the status of a ‘national memory space’ would contribute to immortalizing our Victory in the Patriotic War.

The law could cover the protection of martyrs’ memory, public conduct rules, architectural and landscaping requirements, visiting culture and protocols, electronic guidance, and security measures,” he said.
