"According to research, one out of three women in Azerbaijan reports violence against her," UNFPA Resident Representative to Türkiye, Country Director for Azerbaijan and Georgia Mariam A.Khan said during a panel discussion at the international conference on "Prevention of domestic violence: possibilities and perspectives", APA reports.
She also highlighted that there are no less women who hide the fact that they are subjected to domestic violence.
She stated that domestic violence is a problem not only for women, but for all people, and it is related to the law.
"The role of men in this issue should be expanded. Works should be carried out constantly regarding gender equality and domestic violence. At the same time, there should be a social support system so that people facing violence can know where to apply and feel safe. The number of shelters should be sufficient so that women can take their children with them," she said.
