The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Sabina Aliyeva commented on the destruction of graves by Armenians belonging to Azerbaijanis, the Ombudsman Apparatus told APA.
Another video footage showing the results of the ethnic hatred policy formed by the military-political leadership of Armenia against Azerbaijanis for many years was spread on social networks: "It seems from the video that the graves belonging to Azerbaijanis who have been buried in Khankendi city, placing in the Karabakh economic region of Azerbaijan, have been brutally destroyed and these acts have been committed by purpose and on the basis of hatred.
We would like to remind you that during the occupation of Armenia, as a result of the fact-finding mission, carried out by Azerbaijani Ombudsman regarding destroyed and insulted cemeteries in Fuzuli, Zangilan, and Agdam regions, the report developed in the current year, and brought to the attention of the world society, had noted the facts on massive destruction of tombstones belonging to Azerbaijanis, removing skulls from graves and taking gold teeth. Unfortunately, not taking any legal liability measures against these persons committing numerous war crimes by violating international law, as well as norms of international humanitarian law for nearly 30 years, created a condition for the continuous perpetration and publicization of inhumane, hateful criminal acts that cause gross violation of religious freedom, so far.
Taking into account that Armenia's steps aimed at forming a wrong opinion about Azerbaijan at the international level have recently become more widespread, we call on international organizations and the world community as a whole not to turn blind eye to such kind of vandalism acts, taking effective measures for Armenia to abandon its policy of hatred, which creates an obstacle to the provision of just peace and security in the region by encouraging the commission of provocative acts that incite national-religious enmity, and targets Azerbaijanis precisely because of their ethnicity.”
