Baku. Parvin Abbasov - APA. The bill on “Reproductive health” developed by the Azerbaijani parliament has been renamed, APA reports. At the meeting of the parliament’s social policy committee it was said that the bill is named as “Law on protection of reproductive health”.
A number of serious changes have been made in the bill. Serious changes are connected with maternity rights and treatment of infertility. According to paragraph 10 of the bill, a citizen has the right to be treated for all kinds of infertility using auxiliary reproductive technologies that are not banned and are broadly applied in the international practice.
Donation is also reflected in the elimination of infertility. Thus, a donor may be under 35-year old man or woman. The family, who uses the donor’s service, has right to know about the nationality, education, profession and appearance of donor. Donation is carried out on the basis of agreement and one person can be a donor only for five families.
The bill also covers the issues related with extracorporeal fertilization and embryo transfer.
Besides it, the bill also noted that the sexual glands (their parts), extracted during medical intervention, can be used or kept with the patient’s consent.
