Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Kamaladdin Heydarov, has met with the newly appointed Secretary-General of the International Civil Defence Organization (ICDO), Arguj Kalantarli, who is on an official visit to the country, Ministry of Emergency Situations told APA.
Welcoming the guest, Minister Heydarov described the election of an Azerbaijani representative as the new Secretary-General of the ICDO during the 58th session of the organization’s Executive Council and the 3rd extraordinary session of the General Assembly, held in Baku on July 8–10, as a significant achievement for the country. Recalling the address of President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan to the participants of the ICDO General Assembly, Heydarov stressed that the country has always attached great importance to international cooperation in the field of civil defense.
The Minister expressed confidence that Azerbaijan will continue to strengthen its cooperation with the ICDO in preventing and mitigating the consequences of emergencies and will contribute to the organization’s development.
Making his first official visit to Azerbaijan, the newly appointed Secretary-General of the ICDO, Arguj Kalantarli, expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and the support shown to him. He noted that he would make every effort to further develop relations between Azerbaijan and the ICDO and emphasized that tangible results in emergency response efforts can only be achieved through joint and coordinated action.
The meeting also included a wide-ranging discussion of issues of mutual interest.
