Reuters: Iran imports over $2 billion worth of military equipment while evading sanctions

Iran has established a network of military agencies to evade the US blockade and Western sanctions, importing $2 billion worth of military equipment into Iran since January 2025, Reuters reports.

According to the investigation, more than 5,000 agencies are hidden behind names beginning with the letters MOD, forming a vast financial and military machine.

Thus, from January 2025 to June 2026, including the first four months of the war that took place this year, just one of these agencies, "MOD 346428," imported large quantities of rocket engines, explosives, and other weapons components into Iran.

These components are reportedly used in the production of missiles and drones, as well as missile launchers.

It is noted that the military components were brought from China, Russia, and even Germany, and imported into Iran by air, sea, and land.

Reuters emphasized that its investigation used Iranian banking and government documents, corporate records, and import data.
