'Israel' counts more than 97% of votes with no change to bloc makeup

'Israel’s' Central Elections Committee announced that more than 97% of ballot boxes have been counted in the general election, with the distribution of seats among the main political blocs remaining unchanged, Roya News reports.

According to the latest reported figures, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s bloc is projected to secure 53 seats in the 120-member Knesset, while the opposition bloc led by Gadi Eisenkot is projected to win 48 seats. Arab parties are projected to hold 19 seats, a historic high.

A minimum of 61 seats is required to secure a majority in the Knesset. The current projections leave Netanyahu’s bloc eight seats short of that threshold.

Although the opposition and Arab parties together account for 67 seats, forming a government would depend on whether the parties can reach an agreement. Cooperation between Arab-led parties and some opposition factions remains politically contentious.

The count includes ballots cast in regular polling stations, while special double-envelope ballots, including those cast by soldiers, diplomats and prisoners, are being counted separately. These ballots could still affect the final distribution of seats.

The Central Elections Committee is expected to publish the official results after the counting process is completed. The final allocation of seats will determine the next steps toward forming a government.
