A high-level dialogue on "Scaling Investment for a Fair Transition" was held within the framework of the COP29 presidency and in cooperation with the Asian Development Bank, APA reports.
According to the report, the event was attended by Dutch Deputy Finance Minister Casper Wesseling and UNFCCC Executive Secretary Simon Stiell. US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen joined the event via video conference.
During the discussions, key challenges were addressed in allocating public finance and mobilizing private finance to achieve climate goals.
The dialogue also discussed successful coordination mechanisms for mobilizing finance for Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and the specific role of the ministry of finance in coordination, as well as how partner institutions, financing partners, and the private sector can best support countries in mobilizing finance for NDCs.
