Delegation led by Director of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uganda is visiting Azerbaijan, APA reports, citing Prosecutor General's Office.
The legal and institutional reforms implemented in our country under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, especially the targeted steps taken in the field of transparency, accountability and the fight against corruption, are highly appreciated by the international community. In this context, the Azerbaijani Prosecutor's Office is pursuing an active policy towards expanding international cooperation and promoting the exchange of best practices.
In this context, a delegation led by Director of the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Uganda, Mr. Odumbi James Over, is visiting our country.
On September 20, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev held a meeting with the delegation led by Mr. Odumbi James Over.
The meeting particularly emphasized the mutual support and high-level partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Uganda, which are being strengthened in various fields, including legal cooperation.
Speaking about the successful implementation of Azerbaijan's "ASAN service" model in Uganda, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev emphasized the existence of high-level cooperation between our countries within the framework of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
In addition, the Prosecutor General noted that under the chairmanship and initiative of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, our country, as the last chairman of the OG, has been closely cooperating with Uganda in promoting the principles of the Movement, and also noted that this cooperation has been successfully developing during the current chairmanship of Uganda.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality, Odumbi James Over noted that the organization he represents attaches great importance to the development of relations with Azerbaijan and expressed confidence in the expansion of cooperation between the prosecutorial bodies of the two countries.
Finally, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Uganda.
The parties emphasized that the signed Memorandum of Understanding constitutes a historical stage in institutional relations and expressed their confidence that the Memorandum of Understanding will contribute to the development of relations between the prosecutorial offices.
The guests also got acquainted with the Historical Museum of the Prosecutor General's Office and were provided with detailed information about the exhibits related to the activities of the prosecutor's office.
