As a result of the geological exploration and prospecting work carried out, more than 1,000 mineral deposits have been registered in Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan Vugar Karimov said at the International Geological and Mining Forum held in Nakhchivan, APA reports.
The Deputy Minister noted that during the occupation period, 52 of the 167 mineral deposits belonging to Azerbaijan were subjected to brutal exploitation without any environmental norms: "The liberation of our historical lands from occupation has created the basis for the beginning of the restoration process in these areas and the expansion of the potential of the mining industry in our country."
