"Parliaments can play a crucial role in addressing the challenges of climate change," Mukhtar Babayev, President of COP29, Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources, said during the Parliamentary Meeting organized jointly by the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan within the framework of COP29, APA reports.
Mukhtar Babayev highlighted that parliaments approve budgets every year and pass economic laws. "At this time, political and economic barriers can be a major problem. We must witness both fair and ambitious measures," he said.
