The next international conference on “Addressing the Issue of Missing Persons: Upholding Families’ Right to Know the Truth,” jointly organized by the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons of the Republic of Azerbaijan (State Commission) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), has concluded, APA reports.
Panel sessions on 4 topics were held at the international conference.
The 1st session focused on the problem of missing persons in the processes of trust, reconciliation, and peacebuilding; the 2nd session discussed upholding the families' right to know the truth and meeting their needs; the 3rd session covered the experiences of families of missing persons, identifying and addressing their needs and challenges, as well as areas of cooperation and partnership; and the 4th session examined the progress and challenges in searching for, recovering, and forensically identifying the remains of missing persons.
Following the conclusion of the panel discussions, a final statement was adopted at the conclusion of the conference.

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev addressed the participants of the International Conference. The address was read by the Chairman of the State Commission, Ali Naghiyev.
