The Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan Sabina Aliyeva spoke about her meeting with the Armenian football players who were detained for insulting the flag of Azerbaijan, APA reports.
In her interview with journalists, Sabina Aliyeva noted that as always, Azerbaijan adheres to all the norms and principles it has undertaken and acts accordingly.
"They expressed their deep gratitude to the government of Azerbaijan and are sorry for their actions. According to them, they were forced to commit this act by their elders, the club's management and coaches.
This is another obvious indication of the implementation of Azerbaijanophobia policy. We always bring this to the attention of our colleagues. Unfortunately, these cases keep on going."
